2 c. sugar 4 c. flour 1/2 c. butter or more 2 c. blackberry jam 1 c. black walnuts (or nuts of choice) 1 c. raisins or more 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. cloves 2 tsp. nutmeg 2 tsp. allspice 2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 c. buttermilk 6 eggs or more Place all ingredients in a large pan and mix thoroughly. Bake in a 13 x 9-in. baking pan at 300 F degrees fahrenheitor approx. an hour. Pour icing over cake while cake is hot. Icing 2 c. sugar 1 c. sweet milk 1/2 c. butter Cook until about as thick as cream. Have icing cooked and ready to put on cake as soon as cake is done. Pour on while icing and cake are both hot.
