Recipe for cooking layered vegetable salad

2 (3 ounce) pkg. lemon Jell-O
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 (one and one-half) c. boiling water
1 c. crushed drained pineapple
1 c. nuts
1 c. shredded cheese
1 c. whipping cream
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. diced celery
1 c. diced green bell pepper
6 green onions, diced

Dissolve Jell-O and sugar in boiling water; let stand and cool until Jell-O starts to congeal.

Add pineapple, nuts, cheese and whipped cream. Mix through Jell-O and put into a 9 x 13-in. pan. Let set.

Mix together celery, green pepper, onions and mayonnaise. Put on top of Jell-O mixture and chill until ready to serve.
