2 Tbsp. bacon drippings 1 med. onion, chopped 1 small cabbage head, shredded 2 apples, grated 1/4 c. cider vinegar 1/4 c. water 3 Tbsp. dark brown sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground cloves Coarsely-ground black pepper, to taste Warm the bacon drippings in a saucepan over med. heat. Add the onion and sauté it briefly until it is limp or soft. Stir in the remaining ingredients, and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover the saucepan, and cook 20 mins., until the cabbage is tender.
