Palak paneer, another version of saag paneer, is an Indian dish
also made with almost the same ingredients as the saag paneer.
The only difference is that green leafy vegetables are added like
green mustard leaves in the Palak paneer. The ingredients when
making Palak paneer are garlic, ginger, bay leaves, butter, green
chili paste, cumin powder, paneer cheese and garam masala (a seasoning
made out of grounded spices like cloves, Cardamom, black pepper
and cumin). The palak paneer is usually eaten with basmati rice
or bread made out of corn flour.
Here are a few simple steps to make your very own palak paneer
at home.
Put the green-chili paste, spinach and mustard leaves, and the
ginger-garlic paste in a pressure cooker and cook for 7-8 minutes.
Cut the paneer cheese into cubes and fry them in medium fire until
it becomes golden brown. Then, heat some butter in a saucepan
and sauté in it some cumin seeds, bay leaf and onions.
Add salt, garam marsala and black pepper. Add the browned paneer
and the pressure-cooked spinach. Mix well, place in an aluminum
tray, and bake for ½ hour at 180C.
This is the best way to cook your very own palak paneer at home.
Keep in mind that the melted cheese adds flavor to the spinach
paste. The aroma of garlic and spices combined is like a melody
of different tunes in the olfactory senses. The bitterness of
the mustard will add a little tang to the already delicious palak
paneer. By the way, this dish can also be eaten with roti by dipping
the bread into the palak paneer. It is also a great condiment
for rice meals and sauces or gravies for different salads. So
why not try it yourself and make one at home now to discover the
true taste of India, a land with many great traditions when it
comes to food and culture.
