Chakla-Belan
Chakla-belan is used to make many of the favorite Indian breads
and some of the recipes it is used for include:
• chappatis
• Paratha
• Bhatura
• Poori
• Roti
Chakla-Belan is two different utensils used to make breads. Chakla
is usually a round flat board type made of marble that the bread
is rolled out onto to make various breads. Belan is the rolling
pin of the Indian culture. Together these two utensils make their
breads and other dough type recipes. Many of the breads made are
flat breads and they serve with vegetables and curries they scoop
with the flat breads kind of like dips. These are served mainly
on holidays.
