Degchi

Degchi are large pots that are bigger on the bottom then the top and come with lids and have been used to make many different Indian recipes including:

• Gravies
• Vegetables
• Biryani

These pots can be found in many Indian homes today, but the ones they now use are nonstick where as before they were commonly made of copper. Today’s versions are made of heavy aluminum or steel. The non-stick surfaces help with the cooking of many recipes that would otherwise stick to the copper based degchi. This helps with gravies not sticking. As big as they are and versatile you could cook spaghetti and other pastas in them just as easy. Many of Indian recipes can be cooked in a degchi. Lift the lid while cooking your favorite India dish and the aroma will fill your home.
