Katori

The katori are small pots, which are sometimes only ½ c to 1 cup each in size. They are used to hold many different dishes such as:

• Currys
• Daals
• Gravies
• Chaat

Silver katoris are used for special occasions and festivals. They are filled with different curries and gravies and served on a circular metal tray, which is called a Thali. The breads and rice are served on the Thali, while the curries and gravies are in the katori’s. Many of the foods are eaten with fingers and banana leaves are used for plates. These small Katori bowls enhance the beauty of the dining room table for dinner parties.

Babies that are born in Bangalore are given a born pure silver dining set. These sets contain their own thali, katori, silver glass tumbler, and fork and knife set.
