Channa Daal

Channa Daal is similar to the yellow split pea in looks, but tastes more like chickpeas.
Watch out because many stores sell the yellow split pea and say it is channa daal when its not. Do not be fooled. You may wish to visit an Indian specialty store in order to make sure you do in fact purchase Channa Daal.

Channa Daal is used in making many recipes like these:

• Dhal Makhani
• Tur Dal Kofta
• Fried Channa Dhal with Cheese
• Punjabi Sukhi Chana Daal

The recipes above go well with rice and breads. When you look up recipes for channa daal make sure the ingredients are channa daal and not chickpeas or lentils. Recipes named channa daal are a different dish all together.
