Coconut Milk (Narial Ka Doodh)
Coconut has a sweet taste, which has been used in many recipes
for cooking and baking for years. It was first used by the Indians
in unique and delectable recipes.
Coconut milk is not to be confused with coconut water which is
the liquid inside a coconut. The milk is used for many different
recipes and has even been used to make soaps. You can make your
own coconut milk by boiling a coconut with water and after sitting
one hour straining it through cheesecloth. Throw away the pulp.
The milk is very high in saturated coconut oil and the lauric
acid found in coconut milk is like what is found in mother’s
breast milk. Everyone knows this is very good for the body. This
is used mainly in Asian and Indian dishes. Here are a few:
• Thai curry
• Glass noodle Soup
• Coconut Corn Pudding
• Satay
• Tabu Citrus chicken stir-fry
• Mango Pudding
Coconut milk recipes are unique and wonderful and will add a
tropical flavor to any meal. Try creating some of these unique
Indian dishes at your next dinner party. You will be amazed at
just how much everyone loves the new taste.
