Tur Daal

Low in fat and rich in fiber and protein, tur daal is the Hindi term for a variety of native yellow lentils. Tur daal has a mild earthy flavor. They l have to be stored in a dry place, where they can be kept in good conditions for up to one year. Remember that older lentils keep their properties, but take longer to cook.

In India you will find numerous recipes with tur daal, including these:

• Dal Palak
• Khatti Masala Dal
• Tur Dal Kofta.
• Sambar Rice
• Tur Dal Khichari

Tur daal are yellow lentils with than jackets, a thing that novices should keep in mind because moong dal (yellow beans) are similar. Channa dal (garbanzo) is also similar but is bigger in size. If you are preparing a Hindi dish, and there is no tur dal, you can use the above for substitutes.
