Sage
Sage has been used since ancient times in teas, which cure fevers, colds, liver problems, and in the treatment of epilepsy. The name sage is derived from the Latin world ‘salia’, which literally means ‘save’.
The scientific name of sage is Salvia officinalis. This herb comes from the mint family. The characteristics of the herb plant are that it has green leaves, which are long and make a cotton like texture when they are rubbed. This is also the case when they are ground for making a paste.
Extensively grown in different parts of India, Sage is also grown in the United States, and in different parts of Europe prominently among them being Albania.

One of the characteristics of the herb, sage, is its fragrant aroma. It is an astringent, but comes with a warm flavor, which is ideally suited for preparing a variety of dishes.
Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Indians have been known to use sage to cure themselves of snake bites apart from using them as part of their drinks to invigorate the body and mind.
