Recipe for cooking baked beef curry with custard topping

1 1/2 lb. (one and a half lbs. ) ground beef or lamb
1 c. soft bread crumbs (about 1 1/2 slices bread)
1 c. milk1 egg
1 med. onion, chopped
1/4 c. slivered almonds, chopped
1/4 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 to 3 tsp. curry powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. milk

Mix beef, bread crumbs, 1 c. milk, 1 egg, onion, almonds, raisins, lemon juice, curry powder, salt and pepper. Spread mixture in ungreased 2-quart casserole. Bake uncovered or without a lid at 325 degrees fahrenheit for 45 mins.; drain excess fat.
Mix beaten eggs and 1 c. milk; pour over beef mixture. Sprinkle and distribute with paprika. Place casserole in a 13 x 9-in. pan on oven rack. Pour 1 in. of very hot water into pan. Bake uncovered or without a lid until beef is done and custard is set, about 1/2 an hour.
Garnish with lemon slices and pimento if desired. Cut into wedges to serve.
Yields 8 servings.
