Pressure Cookers

Pressure cookers are mainly used for canning vegetables but can also be used in preparing different items as seen in the Indian cuisine. Pressure cookers cook food at a higher temperature which makes the preparation of cooking food faster. Such as:

• Cabbage
• Potatoes
• Meats
• Various vegetables
• Canning jams
• Canning vegetables
• Canning juices

Pressure cookers cook foods in a sealed container so no air or liquids escape. This makes cooking extremely faster. You can cook a whole chicken in 25 minutes in a pressure cooker compared to hour and half in an oven. The pressure cookers are usually made of steel but some are aluminum.

Advantages of using a pressure cooker include:

• Cooks faster
• More Sanitized cooking compared to a regular pot
• Keeps the nutrients and vitamins in the food
• Saves Energy due to faster cooking
• Easy to clean
• Easy to use
• Can cook more than one food at a time
