Rolling Pin

Rolling pins were invented to roll out dough using a piece of wood with handles on it to roll, letting go and rolling it with the palms of your hands. Years later they were made with ball bearings so you could hold the handles and they would spin on their own. Wooden ones were the only ones made for many years, but now you can find them made out of many materials such as:

• Wood
• Marble
• Ceramic
• Glass
• Earthenware
• Aluminum
• Silicone

Many shops throughout Europe have a window where you can stand and watch them make pastries and breads. These shops use beautifully handcrafted glass rolling pins that have been hand painted by a local artist with different sceneries from around the area. These artistic rolling pins can be purchased as souvenirs.
