Russian dishes and recipes are well known for their easy preparation and also do not require much of cooking skills or any special ingredients. Here in Russian hundreds of soups, fish dishes, meat recipes and popular sweets have been invented over the centuries. The Russian Traditional Foods can be described as “divine,” and they will have you searching for the recipes when you return home. The Russian fertile plains provide rich grains for breads, brews, pastries and cereals. Its lush rivers and sea offers fish and seafood in abundance. The Tundra in the North provides wild game. Russia is also the land of harsh winters the warm soups are must.

The king of Russian Cuisine is definitely the soup, with a wide range like borsch, schi, kalya, solyanka, salomat, pohlebka, botvinia and each one boasts dozens of varieties. The people eat turnips and cabbages cooked in various combinations; a lot of fish was eaten too, along with berries, mushrooms and all kinds of porridges. This same centaury came up with Russian pancakes (bliny), porridges (kasha), stuffed pies (pirozhok), honey cakes (prianik) and rye bread (chyorny hleb), all made it through the centuries almost unaltered. The same era bought the Tatar dishes, the famous Russian Dumplings (pelmeni) and noodles (lapsha) and the nation began drinking Tea, which evolved as a national drink now.
