2 c. flour 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. solid shortening 1 c. light molasses 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. boiling water Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. Mix flour, sugar and shortening. Blend with a pastry knife until crumbly, resembling oatmeal. Place the mixture in a greased pie pan and spread in an even way on the bottom and up the sides, being careful not to compress the mix. Blend molasses, baking soda and boiling water. Carefully pour over the crumbs. Bake for 45 mins. The sides will be slightly puffy when done. Cool before serving.
