Recipe for cooking refried beans

1/2 c. lard or canola (or other vegetable) oil 2 c. Boiled Pinto Beans or Beans from the Pot 2 Tbsp. chile powder 1 Tbsp. ground cumin 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper Heat lard in a skillet over med. heat until hot. Add pinto beans; cook for 5 mins., stirring occasionally. Mash beans, then stir in remaining ingredients. Add oil to skillet if necessary. Cook and stir until a smooth paste forms, about 5 mins. Garnish with shredded cheese, if desired.
